Coyote Point

There is a beautiful beach a short distance from my home.

Access to the beach is largely impeded for nearby residents by the presence of US Route 101, which spans 10 lanes wide.

The park is owned by the county and they charge a $6 parking fee, which is enough to deter many visitors in cars.

I most often run or e-bike to the park, and I am rewarded with incredible views at sunset.

As it is a beach, I prefer to wear shorts and flip-flops:

The county leases/operates a watersports rental venue, along with public bathrooms, though I cannot recall using either:

The views of San Francisco skyline are fantastic on clear days (which most are):

Waiting for the sundown can be variable, depending eastbound fogging rolling over the Santa Cruz mountains from Pacifica.

Here is looking westward, past the Meta office buildings:

Looking northwest is a relatively clear view of SFO airport and San Bruno mountain:

Besides crossing highway 101, the bike ride home from the beach requires crossing a variety of streets including Claremont and the Caltrain tracks:

I wish that access to this beach were easier, but car transportation and its traffic violence is here-to-stay.

If one wants more access to this bayshore park then one will have to reside closer to it, like in the Shoreview neighborhood.

However that comes with its own risks of flooding.
