Tiburon sans car

My wife & I traveled to Tiburon for a weekend outing and birthday celebration.

Here are some photos from the trip–beginning from the San Francisco ferry building:

From there we embarked on the ferry to Tiburon, a 25 minute boat ride.

The bay bridge:

Coit Tower:

Arrival at the Tiburon ferry terminal:

Interesting bus shelter & bike parking:

It was a 3 minute walk from the terminal to our hotel, the Lodge at Tiburon:

After checking & dropping our bags we walked a brief 5 minutes onto a rail trail:

It was a really nice walk:

A little juice:

And a view of Mount Tamalpais:

And a public park on the route back:

That evening we got dinner at Luna Blu:

And went to bed, spotting this nice bicycle:

The next morning it was still there:

And I went for a run, back along the rail trail + a little more:

We used the hotel hot-tub and hotel coffee before acquiring a picnic breakfast, and bikes from the hotel frontdesk:

We picked up bread from Rustic Bakery and hummus + turkey meat from Woodlands Market nextdoor to each other.

And rode the bikes over to a sunlit bench with a good view.

We killed a little time before catching a Marin Transit shuttle bus from Tiburon to Strawberry Village where we shopped around.

We had planned to take a rideshare from there to Ram’s Gate Winery, but we realized that we could get on a Golden Gate Transit bus before hailing a rideshare from much closer to the winery in Novato.

The bus route we rode picked up on highway cloverleafs, which were extremely dangerous for pedestrians trying to reach or leave the bus stop.

The winery was very nice, as wineries often are:

We caught a rideshare back from the winery to a Chinese restaurant back in Strawberry Village.

That evening we went to a movie at a local theater, Moana 2 at Cinelounge.

The crowd was largely kids, and it was surprising to see local business commercials before the film–one featuring a plastic surgery practice:

The next morning we got breakfast at Malibu Farms, and then took a walk counter-clockwise along the peninsula.

This took us close by Robert Redford’s residence.

Returning aboard the ferry there were interesting portable Clipper Card payment readers–mounted on what looked like a dolly:

We retraced our steps & had a fun transit journey at a leisurely pace back to the mid-peninsula, via ferry/Muni/Caltrain/SamTrans bus:

We destroyed our rolly luggage handle from all the travel:

To more travels!
