Polacon San Francisco

I stumbled across InstantFilmSociety on Instagram, possibly while I was researching local photo walks in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Through following them, I discovered an upcoming instant (polaroid) camera conference event (PolaCon) in San Francisco that included photowalks and socializing.

It was an informal “conference”, friendly to an asocial participant and the walking, sights and sounds of San Francisco were an excellent setting.

I joined a photo walk (of several over the course of the conference) in the Mission neighborhood of San Francisco:

Housing with zero parking–that’s the way to do it!

Restaurant window marketing art:

I took this photo of a portal, only to discover there was a sleeping man under the green awning:

Some hardscape:

After walking the residential portion we walked on Mission Street, which is where commerce and stark storefronts are:

Food for sale:

Kinky:

Bikes:

Quite a bike seat angle:

I really like this e-bike frame–it’s minimalism feels so much more futuristic than cars on the road these days:

Bike share station:

The infamous center-running bike lane of Valencia:

More art:

At the end of the walk we all congregated at a bar, before I peeled off to go home:

That was a really cool event, I’m looking forward to going to the next one–and more photowalks in general, for that matter!
