Bike to Work 2025
May is bike month, and a coworker organized a commute ride to our office.
Here is a photo diary from the journey.
I began by riding up to a meeting point, where the San Franciscan riders would pick me up on their route southwards:
You can visibly see the dangers of motor vehicles every direction you turn:
I got early with plenty of time to spare, and took in the view at the Sawyer Camp Trail:
The peloton soon showed up, and I joined a crew of 6:
We made our way south, on Cañada Road through Woodside, and to Sand Hill Road, making swiftly to Palo Alto and Stanford campus where we visited an “energizer station” with food and drink:
It was quite packed with bicyslists:
And this peculiar, pseudo-recumbent folding bike:
We had several more join our group, and we continued southwards, towards Los Gatos, through flat suburban sprawl.
A series of indistinguishable, ultra-wealthy suburbs including Los Altos, Cupertino, Saratoga:
The urban form is quite stark, and there is an absence of public transit or public gathering spaces:
Arrival at our destination:
Total elapsed distance was ~40 miles, average pace of ~12 miles per hour.
Will hopefully try this route to work again in the future!
