Boonville, CA

A couple friends of mine were holding their wedding party, north of San Francisco, in a small town of Boonville, California.

My wife & I caught a ride up from a friend, from San Francisco–stopping in Cloverdale for a gas break:

We arrived on time for the Friday night rehearsal dinner:

It was interesting to see the range of motor vehicles that guests had driven to attend:

The rehearsal venue had great trees on the property, and an interesting architecture with wood and colored highlights:

Another cool tree:

As the night got darker I poked around the venue and there were some unmarked and seemingly abandoned slides:

I captured these by illuminating them from the back with my phone’s flashlight & capturing the photo using macro mode with the Ricoh GR iii.

I post-processed the photos in Adobe Lightroom.

The morning of the wedding party the hosts held a 5km casual run in nearby Hendy Woods State Park.

The park is beautiful:

Before the wedding party I had an opportunity to walk the very teeny strip that composes Boonville’s downtown.

In rural areas, cheap modes of transportation are critically important and their presence also provides a marketing sheen of times long ago when cars were less oppressively dominant:

Amazing that they have a post office:

Really critical public meetings, about managing the real estate that houses the dead:

A quick trip to the shower and a change of clothes and we reached the venue for the night: The Boonville Hotel.

A portal to the space:

And a great spot for speech/vows:

the wedding festivities began and ran long into the night (for me, at least):

Late night:

My feet got tired and I took to a bench to play with low-light settings:

That’s a wrap.
